Who We Are

It all started in 1996 in a quaint, turn of the century summer home on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain in Old Mandeville, Louisiana. Ron Green, our founder, opened his first “Broken Egg Cafe” in a delightful French country atmosphere, featuring friendly and outgoing service and a menu of exceptional dishes. The overwhelming customer response to this first location led to a second restaurant two years later in Destin, Florida, which became known as “Another Broken Egg Cafe.” Today the company has over 65 cafes located in 13 states and is continuing to grow in new and existing markets across the United States. 
 
For over 20 years, the Another Broken Egg Cafe® concept has realized solid growth driven by a strong visit frequency from our loyal guests and our unique and exceptional menu offerings. Combined with our experienced, professional support system, and you have the makings for an optimal franchise opportunity. Earlier in 2017, the company launched our new menu, which is already earning high marks and reviews from our loyal guests. 

 

The tremendous growth and buzz surrounding Another Broken Egg Cafe attracted a lot of attention from both guests and those in the restaurant industry. This included a successful recapitalization of the company by The Beekman Group a leading private equity firm in New York. This purchase in October of 2017, further expands Beekman’s portfolio of restaurant company ownership. Another Broken Egg Cafe is poised to bring our award-winning, Southern-inspired breakfast, brunch and lunch menu to even more guests in the years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does it cost to build a cafe?Open or Close

    The average costs for leasehold improvements range from $300,000 to $675,000.  These costs vary depending upon the availability and prices of labor and materials and whether certain costs will be borne by the landlord.  There are times when second generation space is available which has the potential to reduce a percentage of the construction costs.  Construction costs can also be offset in part by landlord improvement dollars.  The cost of land, if purchased, and site work vary depending upon the location and condition of the property.  We cannot estimate the cost of purchasing land or site work, which will vary considerably from location to location.   • Do you only serve breakfast?Open or Close

    Another Broken Egg Cafe is a breakfast, brunch and lunch cafe only.  No nights!  We are typically open from 7 am to 2 pm seven days a week.  We do allow our cafes to open for private events in the evenings if they have an opportunity.

  • What do you look for in a franchise partner?Open or Close

    We are looking to partner with industry professionals and groups who understand the restaurant franchise model.  Our goal is to franchise a minimum of three units, or preferably an entire market, to one entity.  For smaller markets, we will consider granting a single unit agreement where our brand fits and meets our site requirements.

  • What type of markets do you consider for expansion?Open or Close

    Our target market has an average of 100k population within a five mile radius and a household income of 90k+. Ideally, markets will also have a strong day time population, large retail trade areas and class A office space. 

     

  • How long does it take to open a cafe?Open or Close

    From the time you execute a lease until your grand opening can vary from 120 days to infinity.  There are a lot of factors at play, but typically our cafes can be opened in 120 -150 days.

  • What is the initial investment per cafe?Open or Close

    It is impossible to calculate the exact investment required of each franchisee for a franchised business due to the many factors that influence the total project cost, such as location, amount of space leased, cost of land and building and other costs peculiar to a specific site.  However, based on our experience, the estimated total initial investment costs range from $510,600 to $1,190,00.  These costs include, but are not limited to, the initial franchise fee, first month’s rent, deposits, utilities, leasehold improvements, furniture, fixtures and equipment, initial inventory and other miscellaneous expenses.  Please refer to Item 7 of our Franchise Disclosure Document for additional information.

  • What are the development fees, royalties and advertising fee?Open or Close

    Development fees are $50k for the first unit and $35k for every unit thereafter.  At the execution of the development agreement, the first cafe fee and a 50% deposit for each additional cafe in the development agreement are due at signing.  Our Royalties are 5% and the National Ad Fund is 1%.  We do require you spend an additional 2% in your local market, but we do not collect this amount from you.

  • How many employees does it take to operate a cafe?Open or Close

    On average 35 employees.  A General Manager and Kitchen Manager are required.

  • What are the requirements for an Operating Partner?Open or Close

    Often times we have larger groups that bring in an Operating Partner to manage the daily operations.  We do require that this person have ownership in your structure and has a background in multiple unit operations and the experience required to develop the number of cafes that you are seeking.

  • What kind of training do you offer?Open or Close

    For a new cafe, we allow up to 4 people to attend a six-week training course at one of our corporate cafes.  When it is time for your cafe to open, we will send a certified training team of 5 people for 20 days to help see that you are off to a great start.
